There was an increase in cattle supply to 680 head, mainly due to more numbers of young cattle this week. The quality was from poor to plain and cows were mixed in weights and condition. A mostly regular following of buyers attended and paid on average 10c less for young cattle and the manufacturing grown steers and purchased good beef cows 5c to 8c/kg cheaper. The grown heifers and chopper type cows however sold on a dearer trend.

The yarding comprised of 172 young and grown cattle, 484 cows and 24 bulls. The odd few lean conditioned better quality yearlings, which were mainly heifers, sold from 160c to 232c/kg. The plain quality D1 and D2 yearlings made 120c to 180c with the poor D and E muscled 1 scores from 50c to 130c/kg. Restockers were noticeably quiet this week.

The grown steer yarding was confined to D1 and D2 manufacturing types that made 168c to 174c and 200c to 227c/kg, respectively. Grown heifers were also of the D muscle type with the D1 grade from 170c to 192c/kg. The single plain C3 heifer made 225c/kg. The 3 and 4 score beef cows sold from 206c to 228c with D2 cows from 170c to 208c/kg. The D1 grade were between 150c and 190c with most E1 cows from 140c to 160c and poorer lines sold from 72c to 130c/kg. The plain to average selection of heavy weight bulls were from 194c to 216c with the odd good B2 bull from 238c to 242c/kg.
