A Warrnambool motorist caught with more than 14 grams of cannabis in his car told police he had no idea how it got there.

Arie Bronkhurst, 29, of Rooneys Road, pleaded guilty in Warrnambool Magistrates Court to possessing cannabis.
On December 8 police intercepted a Holden Commodore on Warrnambool's McMeekin Road about 10.45pm.

Police said there was a strong smell of cannabis protruding from the vehicle, which was subsequently searched.
A ziplock bag containing 14.31 grams of cannabis was located inside the glove box of the car.
Mr Bronkurst made admissions to possessing the drug but told police he had no idea how it ended up in his car. He told the court he was a single dad of three children aged under 10.
Bronkhurst was fined $450 with conviction. The drugs were forfeited.
