Green overcame Hampden White in the grand final to run out 3.1 (19) to 0.2 (2) winners in the Western District Junior Carnival.

Coach Stephen Gurry said his team did well to take home the title.

"It ended up being a really tight competition," he said.

"It came down to percentage in the end."

The top-three teams - Green, White and the Warrambool and District league - all finished with three wins from the round robin which mean that percentage mattered.

Green dropped one match on their way to success, going down to Portland Junior Football Association by one-point.

The loss meant it had to win its final two matches to make the decider.

But it was up to the challenge and surged past the Warrnambool and District league outfit and the Mininera side.

Green player and North Warrnambool Eagles product Ben Kellett was judged best player for the carnival.

"He played really well, playing in the ruck all day," Gurry said.

The Green mentor was also impressed by the performances of Koroit's Mac Petersen and North Warrnambool's Callum Grundy.

"We were really pleased with the way the boys gelled," he said.

"We were under pressure in the second and third games and we finished with some really fast flying football."

Green was the colour of the day as Hampden Green also triumphed in the under 14s competition.

It got the better of Hampden White and emerged 4.3 (27) to 0.1 (1) victors in the grand final.

Green turned the tables after losing to White by seven points at the start of the carnival.

Green needed to beat the Mininera team by 50 points in its last round robin clash to reach to the decider.

It managed to win by 72 points after scoring an accurate 11 goals and six behinds during the encounter.

Coach Ken Radley said his team took that momentum to the grand final.

Radley, a second year interleague coach, said "it was a great team effort" and "every player did something special".

Hamilton's Deacon White was the under 14s best and fairest for the carnival.

The Warrnambool and District league claimed the under 12s title after a dominant carnival in which it went undefeated.

It managed to hit the scoreboard quickly in its 1.4 (10) to 0.0 (0) win over Hamilton Kangaroos.

The WDFNL team had just one goal scored against it from four matches.

Coach Tim Parsons, who normally mentors the under 12s Timboon Demons side, said he was impressed by the talent on display at the carnival.

"It's a great thing for them to get a bit of experience playing against different leagues," he said.

Kolora-Noorat's Ted Kenna was judged best player of the carnival by the umpires.

Parsons said Kenna and South Rovers' Deny Fawcett were his best players for the day.
