In an election that has been dubbed the 'climate election', Mr Wallace has no doubts that his party is onto the big-ticket issue.

"People in Wannon are wanting more jobs and medical and education professionals, and our zonal taxation policies will provide that," he said.

"We'll cut power bills in half, everyone wants cheaper power, by getting rid of network charges.

"We'll also make home loans tax deductible, who wouldn't want that?"

When asked what UAP's "cheaper" power bills would entail, and at what cost to the environment, Mr Wallace said nuclear power is the answer.

"What's renewable energy anyway? Take wind for example, those turbines kill an incredible amount of rare birds, not sparrows, rare birds," he said.

"And solar you have to run from batteries, and the current batteries they use contain lithium which is very bad for the environment.

"Nuclear power has no emissions, uranium comes from the ground so when you use it and put it back in the ground it's not going to increase the level of radioactivity in the ground, it doesn't come from nowhere.

"Our policies are greener than The Greens policies."

He said the campaign has been an engaging one leading up to election day.

"I think its going to be tough to beat the Liberals because it's a safe seat, " he said.

"But United Australia has the resources that no other party has and its become the third major party.

"Most people I've engaged with have been very positive, once I explain out policies to people they have been very open to it.

"They need detail and unfortunately policy doesn't involve detail these days. People aren't used to having it and that needs to change."

He's so far been too busy at the polling centre in Portland to tuck into a democracy sausage.

"I haven't had time for a sausage yet, it's been so flat out, but I'm sure the smell will get the better of me soon enough," he said.
