Bombers legend Stephen Hammond represented the league 13 times and made his debut in 1991 when he was 17.
Amy, who was too young to remember her dad playing interleague, said he was proud of her making the team.
"He's always pushed us to be the best we can at sport, like he did," she said.
"He's pretty happy."
The 19-year-old, who is the youngest in the 12-player squad, will play her first interleague match at open level on Saturday at Mars Stadium in Ballarat.
For the first time in years, Hampden football and netball interleague matches will be played on the same day with both teams to meet the Ballarat Football Netball League.
The promising midcourter said the combination could see more people from the south-west make the journey to Mars Stadium.
"Hopefully a few more locals come to watch," she said.
The wing attack, who played Hampden interleague juniors, said she was stoked to be part of the team.
"It'll be a good experience," she said.
"I'm looking forward to playing and learning."
Hammond is one of four Bombers in the interleague squad with Remeny McCann, Nadine McNamara and Jess Wheadon also selected.
But she'll also be surrounded by big names from other clubs.
The teenager said she was excited to play alongside Koroit captain and midcourter Emily-Rose Finnigan.
"I'd like to learn from her," she said.
Hammond said the group, which has trained twice in the past fortnight, had been gelling well at training.
"It's been good, they've all got heaps of experience," she said.
Mars Stadium is the first stop for the netballers who will also play at the Netball Victoria Association Championships finals in Frankston on June 23.
The young Bomber said she was looking forward to training more with the team in the lead up to that tournament.
"Hopefully we'll be even better by then," she said.
Hammond returned to Cobden last year after three years playing for Tongala in the Murray Football Netball League.
Her highlights included an under 17s league best and fairest award in 2015.
Hammond, who is studying environmental science at Deakin's Waurn Ponds campus, said it was good to be back at the Bombers.
The youngster said she was impressed by new Cobden coach Mel Starr who switched from Hamilton Kangaroos during the off-season.
"She's really good, really professional, her knowledge is awesome," she said.
Starr will also coach the Hampden interleague team on Saturday.
Both the football and netball interleague matches will commence at 1.30pm at Mars Stadium.
