Supply came back to 567 cattle, 315 less, in another yarding dominated by dairy cows.

Quality was from poor to plain over much of the offering, with just a few well covered beef cows and the odd finished yearlings that came forward.

A small field of buyers attended, but not all operated fully, however prices were slightly higher.

Cows sold on a dearer trend despite fluctuations in prices for the middle range of 1 and 2 score dairy cows.

The poor to plain quality young cattle overall averaged 10c/kg dearer.

The yarding comprised 90 young and grown cattle, 459 cows and 18 bulls.

There were no vealers penned this week, but the odd C muscled yearlings sold at 235c, 240c and 262c, with restockers paying 258c/kg.

The plain D1 and D2 yearlings received from 135c to 188c, with a restocker paying 232c/kg.

The poor to plain D and E muscled 1 scores were from 50c to 150c/kg. In the grown steer sale, only Friesian D2 steers came forward, with prices at 215c and 218c/kg.

The grown heifers saw D1s make from 165c to 179c and a D2 sold for 210c/kg.

The better covered 3 and 4 score beef cows made from 220c to 240c, as the D2 grade sold from 165c to 214c, while the D1 cows received from 145c to 185c/kg.

Most E1 cows made from 140c to 160c, while the poor quality sold from 78c to 120c/kg.

Dairy bulls received from 181c to 220c, with a very good C2 making 240c/kg.

Cattle numbers were slightly down this week, with 135 coming forward.

However, the prices remained very similar to the last two weeks.

The cattle presented were once again quite mixed.

Heavy steers were in short supply and sold to a top of $2.80 per kilo.

Medium to heavy steers sold to a top of $2.85 per kilo.

A good run of vealers came through and the better calves sold to a top of $3.35 per kilo, holding fully firm from last week's market

A good run of cows sold to a top of $1.95 per kilo, 5 cents cheaper than the previous market.
