The Magpies' low-scoring victory arrested a three-game losing streak to Koroit, Warrnambool and the North Warrnambool Eagles.
But it also put them back within reach of the Hampden league's top five.
"Getting a win under our belts was really good after a tough run," Richardson said.
The Camperdown mentor said new recruits Jess Cameron (Woorndo-Mortlake) and Amanda Gilbert (Wickliffe-Lake Bolac) played a key role in the victory, along with Chelsea Baker in centre and Grace Lucas at wing attack.
"Getting the chance to implement things we've practised at training was important," she said.
"We're still working on those connections throughout the court though.
"The girls need to have more confidence and get to know each other better."
Camperdown, currently sixth on the ladder, next faces the ninth-placed Hamilton Kangaroos in a golden opportunity to bank two wins in a row for the first time this season.
But Richardson said she was wary of the Lewis sisters' imposing height.
"They're really strong netballers and Rhianne can read the ball really well in defence," she said.
"It would be great to go back-to-back.
"But you've got to turn up and play four strong quarters every week."
