A burst water pipe which flooded part of the cafe with up to two inches of water had been leaking for about an hour when a passerby noticed and alerted the owners of Hoppy's Cafe about 9pm.
Manager Shane Annett said if no one had noticed, the cafe could have faced an even bigger clean-up.
"We're lucky that in hospitality the fridges are lifted up a little bit so nothing really got damaged," he said.
He praised the two SES crews who saved them hours of work.
After the late-night clean up, it was business as usual for the cafe on Monday.
