Ms Gray, who helped the school achieve five-star resource smart accreditation twice, is becoming an author.
Ms Gray said she was looking forward to her new venture.
"The past few weeks has seen some of the most interesting oceanic facts come to life," Ms Gray said.
"The challenge is to find the right words and images to capture the most important audience, nine to 12-year-olds. I'm writing a book on ocean plastics with the CSIRO. I'm so excited to be able to pursue this science communication passion and combine all of my science talents together.
"I'm loving this creative challenge for me, it is science communication at its best."
Ms Gray is also hosting a resource smart Waste Focus workshop in Warrnambool on May 24.
TUCK IN
Mothers Day will come early for children and mums at Koroit and District Primary School.
On Friday, the school will be hosting a Mother's Day breakfast.
As well as sitting down for a feast of pancakes and fruits to start the day and say thanks to their mothers, the children will also get the chance to purchase a present, with a Mother's Day stall to be set up.
The school is coming off a successful Koroit Irish Festival, where it raised money through a barbecue and selling donuts. Children also took part in the procession and one of the school's students, Zara Walsh, won the Flaming Folk Person of the Year title.
