The trip to Warrnambool for the first-time visitor to the May Racing Carnival paid off, with Ms Collier taking home thousands of dollars worth of prizes when she was sashed as the traditional lady of the day.
She wore a fishtailed hounds-tooth dress, with off the shoulder fur detailing.
"I had the dress custom made, taking inspiration from a Kate Middleton dress," she said.
"I often draw inspiration from the royal family, particularly during winter."
Her matching black and white headpiece, made by Hats by Helen, included a crinoline twirl.
The runner up prize was awarded to Geelong's Peta Bell, who is a regular carnival attendee.
She wore a stunning woollen check dress with matching black accessories.
The always popular fashions event was hotly contested, with 32 entrants in the women's category.
The contemporary lady of the day prize was taken out by Sarah Bohan, a former Warrnambool resident who now lives in Mount Isa.
She teamed mustard pants with a Chanel-inspired tweed top and a broad-brimmed mustard hat.
"I centered my outfit around my handbag, which I found first," she said.
Ms Bohan is visiting Warrnambool for the carnival, on holidays from the sunshine state.
Runner up was awarded to Mount Gambier's Abby Von Duve, a former May carnival fashions winner.
The most spectacular hat award went to Warrnambool's Sharon Wilson, who wore a soaring green, black and gold headpiece.
The well-known milliner made the hat to match her custom dress, which was sewn by Warrnambool dressmaker Lorraine Pola.
The leather painted headpiece was a stand out.
The lady of the day prize went to Emma Scodellaro, who wore a navy dress with burgundy and pink accessories.
The dapper chap of the day was awarded to Melbourne's Steven Giofches.
He wore an eye-catching tweed three-piece suit.
He teamed his Jack London suit with a woollen tie and matching hat.
"I saw the suit and I loved it," Mr Giofches said.
"This is my first time in Warrnambool. The people are very nice, laid-back and friendly."
He said he was an amateur Fashions on the Field competitor and had taken out prizes at Dunkeld and Yarra Valley race meetings.
Runner-up in the men's competition, which had a field of 11, was awarded to Bendigo's Michael Carty.
