In fact he says it is one of the top three jumping carnivals in the world.
And he should know. His brave jumper Chaparro hung on for a magnificent win in the 2014 edition of the big race.
With the Grand Annual Steeplechase just around the turn, Charley spoke to Tim Auld and gave his view on a few of the "greatests".
Given he said after his 2014 win that it was "the crowning achievement of my involvement in the racing industry", he nominated it as his greatest Annual finish.
Which is a huge statement given he was the chairman of the Australian Jockey Club in Sydney for five years, received an Order of Australia in 2001 for his lifetime contribution to racing and also has a group 1 victory when Jymcarew saluted in the 2005 Canterbury Guineas.
