Ms Keast, 25, started singing opera at 18 and for the past two years has dedicated herself to making a career out of it.

In June she will travel to the small town of Caltagirone in Sicily for a six-week training program called the Mediterranean Opera Festival and Studio.

"The benefits of attending this course for me are huge," she said.

As well as taking daily Italian language lessons, Ms Keast will get to work with directors, conductors, coaches from the world's best opera houses such as the Royal Opera House in London and the Metropolitan Opera House in New York.

"The next stage in my professional development of my career is to sing overseas," she said.

The festival will culminate with a performance where she will take on the roles of Donna Elvira from Mozart's Don Giovanni, sung in Italian, and Micaela in Carmen by Georges Bizet sung in French. The cost of attending the training school is about $8500 and she has started a Go Fund Me page to help with the cost.

While overseas, Ms Keast will also represent Australia at the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition in Villach, Austria in July.

She described the opportunity as a game changer.

"This is a highly prestigious competition, and the first international competition of my career," Ms Keast said.

She will perform in front of agents and industry professionals from the best opera houses in the world who will be looking to recruit singers for their opera seasons and studios.

"This will be a great chance for me to land a gig on an international stage and is a real game changer in my career," Ms Keast said.

Last weekend, she was a finalist in the National Liederfest competition

In Warrnambool on Friday, Ms Keast will perform a concert of letter scenes and arias from French, German, Italian and Russian opera.

The concert, Letters: Scribed and Sung, starts at 7pm at Christ Church. Tickets can be purchased at the door or on trybooking.
