An early-morning fire that destroyed a home near Colac has been deemed not suspicious, but the cause is yet to be identified.

Detective Sergeant Adam Forehan, of the Colac police crime investigation unit, said the fire occurred at a Colac-Lavers Hill Road property in Barongarook about 4.50am on April 20.
"The sole male occupant of the home was asleep in the lounge room and was woken by the fire," he said.
"The victim has exited the premises and called CFA. Seven units attended and contained the fire to the home and surrounding bushes.
"An arson chemist and CFA fire investigations attended. The matter is still under investigation but no overt suspicious circumstances have been identified.
"The cause is yet to be determined."
Detective Sergeant Forehan said the home was completely destroyed.
The 31-year-old male occupant was unharmed.
