Many horses have been doubly entered in various races by trainers but Warrnambool Racing Club CEO Peter Downs is excited with the quality and depth of horses entered for the carnival.
"It looks like being another massive carnival," Downs said.
"It's difficult to get indications off the entries as to which horses will run in what races but there looks to be plenty of depth in the races.
"We've got good solid entries from local and metropolitan trainers which is a positive start to our carnival."
The time honoured Grand Annual Steeplechase to be run next Thursday attracted 16 entries with many of the horses also entered for the Brierly Steeplechase on the opening day.
The first three place getters in last year's Grand Annual namely Gold Medals, Zed Em and Spying On You have been nominated for this year's race.
The Warrnambool Cup, the major flat race for the carnival has 32 entries.
Zed Em heads the weights in the Brierly Steeplechase on Tuesday.
The Patrick Payne-trained jumper will lump 70.5 kgs, while last year's Brierly winner Gold Medals is handicapped to carry 68.5 kgs.
Sixteen horses are entered for the Galleywood Hurdle on Wednesday and 33 for the Wangoom Handicap.
