Twenty-two athletes represented the south-west over the annual Easter weekend event with three making finals.

Jesse Suter was one of those finalists finishing sixth in the 100 metre little athletics boys final after starting from the 4.75-metre mark and chasing a frontmarker at 21.25 metres.

To get to the final he ran second in his heat and fourth in the semi-final. He also finished fifth in his heat of under 18 boys 100 metre.

Layla Watson and Grace Kelly stormed to a girls little athletics finals. Watson would end up placing fourth in her 400 metres, while Kelly ran from scratch in the final to also finish fourth in the 100 metres.

Watson, who also finished fourth in her under 18 and little athletics 100 metre races, missed out on a podium in her final by 0.7 of a second.

Kelly, who on her way to the final won her opening heat and stormed to a third in the semi-final, had to chase down a 19.25 frontmarker to have a chance of scoring a medal.

She also finished third in her under 18 100 metre run with only the winner progressing through the next round.

Hannah Duynhoven, the region's only starter in the main women's 120-metre gift, would go on to finish fifth in her heat.

The Melbourne-based sprinter also placed fifth in her open 200-metre heat and second in her 70-metre run to miss out on the next round bu 0.08 of a second.
