Despite being stranded toward the bottom of the table, with the Kangaroos eighth and the Tigers ninth, both sides have made a competitive start to 2019.
Hamilton, led from the front by playing-coach Kelsey Lewis and her sister Rhianne, held its own reigning premiers Koroit in round one before being outgunned by South Warrnambool to the tune of 15 goals the following week.
Portland was smashed by North Warrnambool before an impressive display against premiership contender Port Fairy saw it fall short by nine goals in round two.
The Tigers have benefited from their recruiting drive, with ex-Tyrendarra players Remy Grant and Maddie Nash both making the side's best in the opening rounds, alongside returning player Tonaya Bannam.
But the Hamilton mentor said she would remain solely focused upon her own side as the likes of Emily Pertzel, Maddy Casey, Beth Wilson, Chloe Uebergang and Aly Smead continued to develop.
"It would be amazing to get the win, especially on Anzac Day," Lewis said.
"We just need to get the girls working together.
"A lot of them are new to open grade netball, so they have to learn how to adapt when things aren't going our way.
"Sometimes you just have to take a breather rather than dropping your head.
"But I've got a good group - they will improve with more experience."
Lewis, who has shot 55 goals this season and been best on for the Kangaroos in both games, said she was adapting to her new role.
"It can sometimes be difficult to coach and play at the time," she said. "But that's just up to me."
