THE hero lifesaver who survived the Easter Sunday drownings is battling serious injuries at The Alfred hospital.

Phillip Younis' family has released a statement following the tragic deaths of fellow Port Campbell lifesavers Ross and Andrew Powell.
"The extent of injuries included a dislocated hip, broken pelvis, damaged spleen and other abrasions and bruising," the family said in the statement.
"He underwent surgery on Monday and we are pleased to say that it appears that the procedure went well. Doctors advise that he will likely make a full recovery from his physical injuries."
The family said it was grieving the loss of Mr Younis' friends and fellow lifesavers Ross and Andy Powell.
"We will do what we can to support the Powell family, our local Port Campbell community and Philip to recover from the tragic incident that occurred on Easter Sunday," the statement said.
"We would like to thank all the emergency services personnel, the doctors and nurses at The Alfred hospital and the broader community for their support and well wishes.

"We would also like to acknowledge the moving support provided to the Port Campbell Surf Life Saving Club community from our fellow lifesavers and emergency service organisations around the country.

Fellow Port Campbell Surf Life Saving Club members and father and son Ross and Andrew Powell died on Sunday while trying to rescue a tourist clinging to rocks.
Mr Younis, who was winched from the ocean, is a stalwart of the club.
The international tourist who the men were trying to save was taken by ambulance to the Warrnambool Base Hospital on Sunday, and was released on Monday about lunchtime, a hospital spokeswoman confirmed.
