Senior Sergeant Bill Caldow, of Camperdown police, drug dogs had been brought in on the first day of the three-day Inner Varnika music/dance festival.
A small amount of drugs were seized from 10 people who were in possession of a variety of different drugs, mainly amphetamines and cannabis, Senior Sergeant Caldow said.
Those people would not face charges but be dealt with by way of drug diversion programs which include counselling, he said.
"Any drug detection is disappointing, it seems to be a significant part of these types of music festivals," he said.
Senior Sergeant Caldow said that about two years ago there were large quantities of drugs found on a large number of people at the event.
He said this year the quantities of drugs found were much less.
The event, which is now in its sixth or seventh year, was held in a volcanic crater off Darlington Road at Bookaar attracted about 2500 patrons and support staff, he said.
Last year more than 20 people faced drug-related charges at the event, and 11 drivers on their way home from the festival tested positive to driving under the influence of drugs.
