Good Friday is one of two-and-a-half restricted trading days each year under Victorian law. The restrictions also apply on Christmas Day, and on ANZAC Day between 12.01am and 1pm.
Businesses exempt from trading restrictions include those with with 20 or fewer persons employed during a restricted trading day.
Business Victoria said exempt businesses and related entities must have more than 100 employees in the seven days immediately before the restricted trading day.
Certain types of business are exempt and can open whenever they wish throughout the year. These include are chemists, petrol shops, restaurants, cafes, takeaway outlets and service providers.
Consumer Affairs Victoria confirmed that both Good Friday and Easter Monday are declared public holiday and penalty rates apply for employees.
The Standard has compiled a list of businesses that are open on the Good Friday public holiday. These include:
Warrnambool
Warrnambool Swinton's IGA supermarket is open from 8am to 9pm, excluding liquor sales.
APCO Warrnambool is open 24 hours.
Boutiques, Phinc, Mix and Co and Daizy Boutique, have joined forces for a collaboration sale from 10am to 3pm at 140 Liebig Street.
At Macey's Bistro and Mac's Hotel it's business as usual, opening from 12pm to 11pm.
The Cally Hotel is open from 7.30am to 11pm, with lunch available from 12pm to 2pm and dinner from 6pm to 8pm.
Logans Cafe Restaurant is open for lunch from 11.30am and dinner from 6pm.
Warrnambool's Vic Hotel will operate during the day from noon but will not be serving lunch, only dinner.
Fishtales Cafe is open from 6am to 9pm.
Patloch Lane Cafe and Bar is open from 8am to 3pm and 6pm until late.
Elements Restaurant, located at The Mid City Motel, is open for breakfast 7am to 9.30am and for dinner from 5.30pm to 8.30pm. Bookings are recommended.
Bojangles is open from 5pm until late.
Gallo Asian Restaurant will be open from 10.30am to 2pm and 5pm to 10pm.
Scotty's Seafood is operating from 11am until late.
Main Beach Kiosk is open from 7am
Morriss Road Fish and Chip Shop is open from 11am to 9pm.
Warrnambool's Great Ocean Road Tenpin Bowl is open from 10am until late.
Warrnambool Country Meats' Centro store will be open from 10am to 6pm.
Alex Pye Electrics and Umbers Electrical are working on call.
Port Fairy
Port Fairy IGA will be open from 8am to 8pm.
The Star of the West Hotel is open from noon until 11pm.
East Beach Fish Shop is open from 8am until late.
The Red Hen is open from 11am to 8pm.
The Wharf at Port Fairy is open for coffee from 9am, fish and chips from 11am to 3pm and 5pm to 8.30pm.
Nullawarre
McDowall's Friendly Grocer is open from 9am to 5pm.
Childers Restaurant in Nullawarre is open for take away from 9am to 8pm.
