The maritime village is hosting Easter on the Hill and 10,000 eggs have been hidden around the venue.
Warrnambool City Council events coordinator Steph Hargreaves said extra eggs had been included this year.
"We learnt that 4000 wasn't enough last year," she said. "The trail is run by Coastcare to support the great work they do with the Middle Island Maremma Project. It's more of a trail than a hunt. People can go to different stations around the village and answer questions about penguins and the project."
There will be an animal petting zoo, giant inflatable slide and jumping castle, face painting and art and craft activities. Scouts will also conduct old fashion games. There will be live music from Mick Ferguson and Cooper Lower. Sow and Piglets Brewery are offering beer tasting throughout the day. Bambino Pizza, a barbecue and the Flaggy tea rooms will be available for lunch.
"The whole village will be activated," Ms Hargreaves said.
"It will be a family-friendly day."
