The Camperdown Theatre Company will present five performances of Monty Python musical Spamalot at the Theatre Royal in May. Based on the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spamalot is an uproarious comedy with a hilarious score (www.trybooking.com).
Co-Opera and Courthouse Camperdown Inc. will present Mozart's opera Don Giovanni at the Theatre Royal on May 15. The comic melodrama tells tale of the wealthy aristocrat's crimes and seductions (www.trybooking.com).
The Robert Burns Scottish Festival will take over Camperdown from July 3-7.
Folk legend Eric Bogle headlines the extensive music program which includes Fiona Ross and Shane O'Mara; John McAuslan; Luke Plumb and Kate Burke; Peter Daffy, Maree Daffy, Andy Rigby and Nick Marton; The Likely Celts; Elonera; Geoff McArthur; Claire Patti; the Corner House Band; Tuniversal Music Group; Warrnambool Pipes and Drums, the Lakes and Craters Band and Con Grieve and Andrea Preiss.
There will be workshops, poetry, art, whisky tasting, lectures, the Burns Supper and more.
Each spring the Rock the Clock Festival turns back time with displays of vintage vehicles, and 1950s music and fashion. Bands, drive-in movies, the Miss Rock the Clock pageant and markets will take place from October 24 to 27.
In October each year the Camperdown Agricultural Show turns the spotlight on the district's farming achievements. Alongside the produce and livestock displays, ring events, and trade stalls, there are rides, face-painting, arts and crafts, showbags, treasure hunts, live music and more.
The Camperdown Car and Bike Show in January is another opportunity for petrol heads to check out some amazing hot rods, and classic and vintage vehicles.
The Camperdown Cup, held each January at the Camperdown Turf Club, has been run for more than 150 years and was named Country Racing Victoria's Event of the Year for 2017-2018.
The Lakes Craters International Horse Trials in April is one of only two CCI Long Format events in Victoria.
It is held in the picturesque Lakes Sporting Complex and is a relaxed and fun event for riders at all levels.
Regular events: the Rotary Markets are held on the first Sunday of every month under the elms in the main street, while the Corangamite Film Society screens Thursday Pictures on the first Thursday of the month followed by supper. Upcoming features include Goodbye Christopher Robin (May 2) and Japanese drama Departures (June 6). Sessions start at 7.30pm at the Killara Centre, 210-212 Manifold Street.
