The Bloods edged out Warrnambool by 10-goals on Saturday to get their Hampden league season back on track after an opening round defeat to Camperdown.
Moloney, who stepped in as coach in the absence of Lisa Arundell, was proud of her side's efforts and she believes the 44-34 will help them in the long run.
"We were happy with the win and it's going to be good for confidence," she said.
"It was just a team effort and we probably had a bit of a lapse in the second and third quarters last week but we were more consistent this week and everyone played well."
"We were keen to get that win and it's good to get one early for confidence to show we are capable getting those types of wins on the board."
Moloney, who was named best on court, credited the work of her defenders and an off-season recruit for helping secure the victory.
"Brooke Hoare and Emma Lucas were fantastic. They were really consistent and rebounded a lot and got plenty of turnovers," she said.
"I thought Missy (Melissa) Burt was terrific in goals and I think she shot about 30 goals. It's only week two and she has done a great job since coming in. She was strong and held really well."
Burt finished the game with 31 goals. Jessica Davis (10) and Jacqui Arundell (three) netted the Bloods' other goals.
Danielle Keilar was the Blues' top-scorer with 17, while Jessica Thwaites shot 10 and Taylah Antonio seven.
Elsewhere, Cobden kept its undefeated run alive with a tight victory over North Warrnambool Eagles.
Led by goalies Emily Finch (28 goals), Molly Hutt (22) and a best on court performance from defender Jess Wheadon the Bombers soared to a 50-44 win.
Over at Portland, Port Fairy edging out the Tigers by nine goals.
The Seagulls led for most of the encounter to run away with a 49-40 victory. Defender-turned-attacker Carly Watson continued her strong form with 22 goals, while alongside her Chelsea McMahon netted 27.
