First Constable Rebecca Wills said police were issuing the warning in the lead up to the May Racing Carnival.
"A male aged in his 40s was arrested on Friday and charged in relation to making threats to seriously injure a taxi driver," she said.
"Police want to remind the public this sort of behavior won't be tolerated towards taxi drivers or anyone. The man was intoxicated at the time. Taxi drivers are providing a good service and we don't won't them to come to work feeling threatened. He is now concerned for himself and other drivers."
