Teenager Zahli Adams, who crossed from Port Fairy in the off-season, impressed in her first outing for the Saints on Saturday.
Koroit captain Emily-Rose Finnigan said Adams played in wing defence and goal defence in the Saints' 64-52 win over Hamilton Kangaroos.
"Losing Jess (O'Connor) and Carly (Peake) from last year, we needed to find someone to add to our defensive end and she is perfect," she said.
"Em (Batt) in goal keeper is perfect for her, giving her guidance. They worked well together."
Finnigan said fellow teenagers Bell Baker and debutant Layla Monk would add another dimension to the Saints' line-up this season.
MORE NETBALL:
Koroit put a buffer between itself and Hamilton Kangaroos early before the Kelsey Lewis-led side fought back.
"We had a healthy lead in the first quarter and we maintained it," she said.
"They made a few changes heading into the second quarter and I think they were good changes for them and we plateaued a bit."
In other games, Warrnambool was no match for 2018 grand finalist Cobden.
The Bombers, with sisters Jaymie and Emily Finch dominant in the goal circle, won 71-34 under new coach Mel Starr.
Camperdown, under new mentor Brooke Richardson, edged out a plucky Terang Mortlake 41-37.
Scores were tied at nine-all at the first change before the Pies crept six goals clear at the main break.
