The Warrnambool export was announced as Brisbane Bullets' star signing on Friday night.
Sobey, 28, will play for Australian Boomers coach Andrej Lemanis at the Bullets after signing a three-year deal.
He lands in Brisbane after a successful stint with Adelaide 36ers, where he rose to prominence as the NBL's most improved player in 2017-18.
Lemanis said the Bullets were thrilled to land the 193-centimetre guard.
"Nathan is an extremely skilled basketball player, a great athlete and a wonderful person," he said.
"Obviously, he will add pace to the team and an ability to get to the rim, but he also has an ability to see the floor and find opportunities for his teammates.
"Nathan averages over five assists a game, the best in the league.
"He is the sort of player that makes everyone else better both on and off the court.
"His professionalism and leadership skills are impressive. I, and the entire team are thrilled that he has chosen to join the Bullets."
Sobey is playing in Europe for French Pro A League side Starsbourg during the NBL off-season.
