South Rovers assistant coach Rhi Davis believes Sheehan is set for a big season in the Warrnambool and District Football Netball League.
Davis said the 20-year-old would benefit from the inclusion of some seasoned recruits.
"I think this year having the support of a few more senior players around her is really going to take some pressure off her," she said.
"I think she is just going to come into her own and be an outstanding goalie this year."
Sheehan said she was thrilled to be surrounded by a host of experienced Lions this season.
"I'm really excited to be alongside Rhi (Davis) in the ring but also having the other senior players in the mid-court," she said.
The youngster said other experienced Lions included the likes of former coach Lisa Pender and Nadine Porter who has stepped up from the South Rovers A reserve team.
She had a stint with Hamilton Kangaroos in the Hampden league last year.
MORE NETBALL:
Sheehan said the South Rovers A grade side was hoping to build after it finished sixth last season.
"I'm hoping to make finals," she said.
The youngster said had never played in grand final and would be delighted to get there.
The Lions have a tough task first up when they face the Dogs, who finished runner-up last season.
"We need to go out there as a team and not get too rattled and play our game," Sheehan said.
Sheehan, who has been a regular senior player for past five years, made her debut in 2014.
The goal attack showed promise as a junior winning the WDFNL 17 and under best and fairest award in 2015.
She said she had enjoyed a good pre-season and had put in some extra work to improve her game.
"I been working on own fitness outside of training," she said.
The goal attack said she had been doing gym sessions a couple of times a week.
Sheehan has been working at Warrnambool Cheese and Butter for the past six months.
