The Bombers fell nine goals short of their maiden open grade premiership against the rampaging Saints and will no doubt be hungry for revenge. Cobden will miss the presence of Sophie Barr, but has regained Jessica Wheadon, who helped guide the club's division one side to a premiership with a nail-biting two-goal win over Port Fairy.
The arch rivals
Round eight: Warrnambool versus South Warrnambool
The Blues edged out the Roosters by two goals in round nine last year but South Warrnambool had the last laugh with a thumping 29-goal win in round 17. Both sides will be finals contenders and their round eight clash could essentially be worth double points, along with local bragging rights. The perfect chance for young talent to get noticed.
The rebuilders
Round seven: Terang Mortlake versus Portland
The two sides which finished last and second last in 2018 will face off midway through the Hampden league season. Both Terang Mortlake and Portland did some heavy recruiting through the off-season with the zippy Remy Grant (Tyrendarra) joining the Tigers while Melissa Burt (Dennington) could be a game-changer for the Bloods.
