The 22-year-old on-baller joined Camperdown after playing with St Kevin's in the top division of the Victorian Amateur Football Association last season.
Manivong said he was hoping to help the Magpies go one better this year after they fell by 11 points in last season's grand final to Koroit.
"I'm hoping I can be of some help to take that next step this year," he said.
The Magpies recruit was in the mix to be drafted by an AFL club in 2014 but his chances were cruelled by a serious injury - two slipped discs in his lower back.
He had earned his spot in the Western Jets side after winning four-straight league best and fairests in the Western Region Football League juniors with home-club Altona.
The on-baller said he missed out on playing in a premiership with St Kevin's last season after sustaining a knee injury in the last round of the season.
But he said he recovered from the injury and has enjoyed a strong pre-season with Camperdown.
"I'm probably the fittest I've been for a long time," he said.
"I'm cherry ripe for round one."
Camperdown will play its first match at home against Terang Mortlake.
The Magpies will go into the season hoping to break a 19-year drought after they won premierships in 1999 and 2000 under Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley.
Manivong won't be the only addition to the Magpies line-up this Saturday with centre-half forward Liam Darcy back at the club after a couple years with the University Blues in Melbourne.
Co-coach Neville Swayn said Darcy would be a great target up forward.
"He's super," he said.
"He's a big strong body which we thought we needed and it's good having a local kid come back."
The co-coach said there may be other new faces joining the senior team this week.
"There could be another two or three debutants," he said.
While the Magpies welcome some handy additions, they may be without on-baller Luke Clarke.
Swayn said his side's "most experienced player" had injured his knee in a practice match a couple of weeks ago.
"He's doubtful at this stage," he said.
"But everyone else is pretty right."
Swayn said veteran full-forward Nick Bateman wouldn't be playing.
"Nick's unofficially retired but we've got our fingers crossed that he may change his mind," he said.
Swayn said he was delighted with the Magpies' preparation for the season.
"We're really pleased with the pre-season and with the numbers," he said.
"The whole group's attitude has been spot on."
Camperdown has co-coaches this season, with the club appointing Swayn and Jack Williams during the off-season.
Williams, who won Camperdown's best and fairest last season, said he would draw on his VFL experience to help develop the club's young list.
He was on Werribee's list for the past three seasons.
Swayn is a former senior assistant who worked alongside former Magpies coach Phil Carse in 2017.
Carse, who coached the Magpies to a grand final last year, will coach Redland in the NEAFL this season.
