The Warrnambool export headlines the competition's free agency list and has been linked to Brisbane Bullets and new franchise South East Melbourne Phoenix.
Australian Boomers coach Andrej Lemanis coaches the Bullets while Sobey's former 36ers teammate Mitch Creek is the Phoenix's marquee signing for the 2019-20 campaign.
The free agency period opens on Monday and includes former Chicago Bull Cameron Bairstow (Brisbane), five-time Perth Wildcats championship player Jesse Wagstaff, journeyman Lucas Walker (Cairns), Melbourne United sweet-shooter David Barlow and Illawarra Hawks veteran David Andersen.
MORE BASKETBALL:
Sobey, who is currently playing in Europe for French Pro A League side Strasbourg, has spent four seasons at Adelaide, having started his NBL career at Cairns Taipans.
The 193-centimetre Sobey, 28, rose to prominence at the 36ers, crowned the NBL's most improved in 2017-18.
The dynamic former Warrnambool Seahawk, who can switch between the two guard spots, has since become a regular on the Australian Boomers roster.
Lemanis will lead the Boomers at the FIBA World Cup in China in September with Sobey among a host of Australian-based players battling to feature alongside the nation's NBA stars.
