Cobden's Debbie Rix has taken out the Western District Golf Association women's championship after getting off to a flying start at the Warrnambool Golf Club on Friday.

"I started off well and I was able to get a couple of birdies in the front nine which held me in good stead for the back nine," she said.
"So I had 33 on the front nine but I had a couple of double bogeys on the back nine which cost me.
"I ended up being a couple over (par) for the whole day."
Rix finished with 76 off the stick, in front of Warrnambool's Alison Sinclair on 83.
The Cobden golfer said the weather changed during competition which made it difficult for competitors.
"I was thinking this could be really good, I could perhaps come in under the card for the whole 18 holes," she said.
"The front nine was lovely because of the weather and it changed.
"It got very windy on the back nine and we got wet towards the end of the round."
Meanwhile, the handicap event winner was Terang's Marion Venn with a net score of 72.
She edged out Warrnambool's Trish Sullivan who finished with a net score of 74.
In the Bronze one division the scratch winner was Warrnambool's Gail Hulland who shot 97.
Bronze one handicap winner Bev Forbes finished with a net score of 73, with Camperdown's Jenny Hillman second on 75.
Judy Rafferty took out the Bronze two event with 41 points, three ahead of Warrnambool's Muriel Aberline.
