Following three metropolitan runs, Purcell dropped Substantial back in class to defeat Navarre and Why Big Bry at her home track in the 1100-metre race.
"She's got a bit of ability," Purcell said.
"I think she appreciated the soft ground. It was a top ride by Linda Meech.
"Linda just dictated the pace in the race from her barrier and was too strong.
"She'll take a lot of improvement out of the run.
"There's a nice two-year-old race on the last day of the Warrnambool Carnival for her.
"She might not have another run before the carnival.
"We'll just wait and see how she is before deciding if she has another run."
Substantial picked up $12,650 in prizemoney and bonuses with the victory.
Warrnambool's three-day carnival starts on April 30.
