Numbers lifted this week with an additional 130 cattle yarded. Not all weights and grades were offered, with the bulk of the yarding being the regular offering of dairy and beef cows, and again there were some very well finished cows offered. All regular processors were present and joined by an extra processor, who struggled to enter the market, due to prices lifting across the export categories. Again no feedlot buyers were present due to the lack of suitable types on offer. No veal was offered today and only a few yearling steers suitable for the domestic buyer were offered, selling for 258c/kg. The bulk of the small offering of mixed yearling cattle were sold back to the paddock making between 98c and 222c/kg. Grown heifers offered today were a little better than last week with the well-conditioned types making between 226c and 230c lifting up to 32c/kg. Dairy and beef cows sold in a stronger market with both the light and heavy weight cows lifting between 11c and 36c/kg. Well-finished 3 and 4 score beef cows sold to processors for 182c to 224c/kg. The well-covered dairy bred cows made up the bulk of the yarding with tops selling for 205c, while the very light 1 score cows made between 85c to 148c/kg. Bulls sold to the usual buying group today, with the better shaped beef bulls making between 200c to 230c, easing 6c, and very few dairy bulls offered sold from 130c to 198c/kg.

LANDMARK WOOL WEEKLY
For week ending March 22.
The poor seasonal conditions prevailing across large areas of the country has seen an increasing supply of lower style wools with poor additional measurements on offer. Average and inferior style wools comprised up to 15.4% of Merino fleece lots for the week. The EMI fell a further 16 cents to 1,963 c/kg clean.
Buyers keenly sought the reduced selection of best and good style lots in Sydney on Wednesday with these lots achieving similar prices to the last sale. Poorer style lots comprised 24% of Wednesday's selection and were discounted, particularly those with lower strength and higher midbreaks. This pattern continued during Thursday's sale for lots < 18.5 µm. The Northern Regional Indicator fell 20 cents to 2,007 c/kg clean, the Northern Merino Carding Indicator lost 66 cents to 1,172 c/kg clean. The Sydney pass-in rate was 6.8%.
The Melbourne market began strongly on Wednesday as buyers pursued lots with high N/ktex and low midbreaks across all microns. These lots were up to 10 cents dearer. A large offering of drought affected wools dampened the market on Thursday. The Southern Regional Indicator lost 14 cents to 1,935 c/kg clean and the Southern Merino Carding Indicator lost 33 cents to 1,151 c/kg clean. The Melbourne pass-in rate was 10.5%. .
Wednesday' sale in Fremantle opened strongly and continued to strengthen during the day. Buyers were in the hunt for 19.0 to 21.0 µm fleece lots which tended 10 cents dearer. Thursday's sale eroded all the previous day's gains, with losses of between 14 and 23 cents. The Western Regional Indicator ended 23 cents lower at 2,104 c/kg clean and the Western Merino Carding Indicator lost 58 cents to 1,126 c/kg clean. The Fremantle pass-in rate was 13.4 %.
