The Hampden league premiership player ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament training with Geelong league club St Joseph's on Thursday night.

He had signed with the Joeys for the 2019 season.

"I am pretty broken. It's disappointing after two shoulder recos and then to have to go through it all again is pretty upsetting," Nagorcka told The Standard.

"I went to change direction and it gave way. I intially thought I'd hyper-extended it but I had scans the next day and they showed a full rupture."

Nagorcka said the injury came at the end of a strong pre-season.

"It was one of my first pre-seasons since 2013," he said.

"I feel as fit as I've ever been and to happen two weeks out from the season is disappointing."

The midfielder, who trained with VFL club Werribee over summer, said renowned surgeon Julian Fellowes would do his surgery.

He said he was thrilled with the support he'd received from St Joseph's.

"He's the same bloke who is doing (Richmond defender Alex) Rance's knee, so they have booked me into the best surgeon," Nagorcka said.

"St Joey's support has been really good. It's made it a lot easier; it's been very surprising how they are looking after me."

Nagorcka will remain in Geelong, where he is working, but expects to watch some Koroit matches in 2019.

"Hopefully Clem, my little brother, will play a few senior games," he said.
