Mrs Britnell said she has written to state minister for roads and road Safety Jaala Pulford asking her to order a full review of the stretch of road between the Hopkins Highway and the Warrnambool-Caramut Road.
"It is a designated truck route, and has been for many years, but traffic numbers are increasing and it's probably time to check that the infrastructure is still up to standard," she said.
"A number of residents in the area have made contact with me and raised their concerns, so I've asked the minster to look into it.
"This isn't about banning trucks from the road, it's an important route linking the Hopkins Highway with the Princes Highway. This is about making sure safety measures are still appropriate given the increased traffic numbers."
Mrs Britnell said it was important for community peace of mind that a safety audit was completed to identify any risks that may need to be rectified.
"It's a simple request and I hope the Minister comes on board," she said.
