Allan Tokona, 34, of Raingill Avenue, appeared in Warrnambool Magistrates Court on Monday where he made a bail application.
Magistrate Jon Klestdadt said the allegations were serious and as police continued to investigate the incident, more charges could be laid, including false imprisonment.
He said Mr Tokona had a history of failing to comply with court orders and failing to appear in court.
He said the accused had not shown compelling reasons why he should be bailed and remanded him in custody until April 29.
Warrnambool police Leading Senior Constable David McPhail told the court the female victim had been spending time with the accused and had recently lost contact with her family and friends, who reported her missing to the police.
On March 15, Mr Tokona was with the victim when he allegedly left a motel in Warrnambool and forced her into the backseat of the car.
He drove to an unknown location where they allegedly used drugs. He then allegedly forced her back into the car and returned to Warrnambool.
But the vehicle broke down and the pair attended the Apco service station on Raglan Parade.
The victim said she needed to use the toilet.
Mr Tokona allegedly told the victim he would shoot her if she continued walking. He was allegedly holding something the victim believed was a gun.
The victim allegedly sent text messages to her family saying she felt unsafe and believed she was going to be shot.
Police attended Mr Tokona's property later that day and located the victim in a bedroom.
Mr Tokona was arrested on Warrnambool's Henna Street the following day.
He was found in possession of 1.36 grams of green vegetable mass believed to be cannabis and a grinder.
A search of his property located a fake gun, which was a bent antler with a steel ball attached.
He was charged with making threats to kill, threatening to inflict serious injury, recklessly cause injury, committing indictable offences while on bail and possessing cannabis.
At the time of the offending Mr Tokona was on bail for allegedly stealing a woman's handbag and phone from Warrnambool's Gateway Plaza.
He is also charged with cultivating cannabis after police located six marijuana plants growing in the backyard of a house.
Mr Tokona told police the plants were his.
Lawyer Jack Rabl said Mr Tokona intended to contest some of the charges.
