Hawkesdale scored an outright win over Mailors Flat in the final round of the season to edge out perennial finalists Panmure in the top four.
The roller-coaster ride continued with an upset win over minor premiers Grassmere that saw it meet Yambuk in the grand final.
And while the Cats were caught napping in the opening stanza, falling to 3-24, a mammoth 133-run partnership from David West and Jamie Hetherington laid the foundation for Hawkesdale's premiership.
Yambuk skipper Tyson Umbers said before the game his side would target Hawkesdale's dangerous top order bats in Murray Habel, Harrison Cozens and Daniel Roache.
The plan worked, with all three dismissed for single figures after wickets to Umbers, his younger brother Connor and Christo Rook.
But the tide turned with West (84), Hetherington (52), captain Lachie Glare (23), Fletcher Cozens (22 not out) and James North (20 n.o) all standing tall for Hawkesdale.
West, who was awarded best-on-ground along with teammate James North (7-26), batted for more than three hours before he was caught and bowled by Yambuk skipper Tyson Umbers.
Hawkesdale was in the box seat at the end of the Saturday's play, finishing at 6-239 after 70 overs.
North didn't waste any time on Sunday, immediately inflicting punishment on Yambuk's top order.
The joint man of the match-winner had the Buks vulnerable at 4-30, with Rook, Xavier McCartney, Joseph Forrest and Corey McKenzie all dismissed for single figures.
Fletcher Cozens (2-10) then came to the party with the pair leaving Yambuk decimated at 9-56 and even the faint hope playing out 70 overs for a draw all but dashed.
And when Kevin Watts was run out, the game was won and lost - the Buks managing just 72 runs.
Despite finishing in fourth place, Hawkesdale enjoyed a dominant finals series, beating Killarney by six wickets in the semi-final, before comfortably rolling Yambuk in the decider.
Glare said the fact the top two sides were knocked out in the first round of finals highlighted the competitiveness of the league.
"At the start of the season there could have been six or seven teams make finals, which just makes it even more special to win it," he said.
The 32-year-old was rapt with his side's attack - with North clearly the standout - but was also quick to heap praise on West and Hetherington for turning around Hawkesdale's fortunes earlier in the match.
"They had a massive partnership and set us up," he said.
"We controlled the game from there...by just keeping things simple and not getting too excited."
Meanwhile, Killarney beat Wangoom by two runs in a nail-biter to take home the GCA's Saturday division flag.
The Crabs started strong with skipper Craig Henry (29), Brett Halliwell (38), Jamie Poumako (20 n.o) and Ben Day (30 n.o) all hitting the scoreboard.
Damian Beacall and John Melican both took two wickets for Wangoom as Killarney made 166 runs from its 40 overs.
And while Jakob Stennett scored 84 runs for the Roosters before he was caught and bowled by David McMahon (3-20), his side would fall agonisingly short of victory.
Purnim won the GCA's Sunday division over Mailors Flat on the back of half-centuries from Eddie Dwyer and Liam Hoy.
The Bulls blasted 251 from their 40 overs before bowling the Jets out for 122 runs in the 29th over.
