When Great Ocean Road Ten Pin Bowling employee Rebecca Dixon suggested a day of bowling to raise funds for Muscular Dystrophy Awareness Warrnambool, Mr Gillin was thrilled.
"It's great when people start to come up with fundraising ideas," he said.
"We really appreciate any new ideas and the support of course."
The Bowl Goes Green for MDA will be held at The Bowl from 10am to 1pm on Saturday.
Proceeds from every game purchased at the Timor Street site during the event will go toward research into a cure for muscular dystrophy, a progressive muscle-wasting disease affecting more than 20,000 Australians.
Miss Dixon said she was proud to be organising the event for Chris and his family.
"It was during Chris' birthday when we did the MDA walk that I thought wouldn't it be a great idea if The Bowl could somehow work in with them and have a family-friendly event," she said.
With the support of The Bowl owners and local businesses Miss Dixon has compiled an array of prizes.
"Raffle tickets are $2 each and some of the prizes include an Aquazone membership, May Races tickets and lots of meal vouchers and other great vouchers," she said.
All lanes at the bowling alley will be used all day for the fundraiser with $2.50 from each person going to MDA.
Miss Dixon suggested pre-booking a lane to avoid waiting.
"Oh but if you are waiting or after your bowling if you buy a mint green soft serve at Froget $2 will be donated to the cause."
Merchandise including green laces, loom bands and stickers will be available to purchase at the event.
"As usual people are welcome to come dressed in a touch of green," Mr Gillin said.
