Sara and Chelsea Quinn are so competitive that even they find it funny. 

The bubbly mother and daughter combination are set to play together for the first time in years when they take the court for Old Collegians in the Warrnambool and District Football Netball League next season.  

They won't just be on court together, Chelsea will be goal shooter and Sara, goal keeper.

"I think I'm going to get yelled at a lot from the other end," Chelsea said before laughing.

"Yes, she probably will," Sara said playfully.

"I'm very vocal so it's probably a good thing that we're at opposite ends of the court to be honest with you."

The pair last played together three years ago for Koroit in the Hampden league's second division when Sara was coach. 

Sara has also been a prominent member of the netball community as former vice-president of the WDNFL and former netball league president.

The stars have aligned again for the duo with Chelsea moving from North Warrnambool Eagles and Sara stepping up to Old Collegians' A grade team.

Sara hasn't played A grade since Old Collegians was in the grand final in 2015. 

"I'm very much looking forward to it," Sara said.

"The only reason I'm playing A grade this year is because I get to play with Chelsea." 

Chelsea played under 17s in the Hampden league last season and this will be her first year at senior level.

She actually played for Old Collegians in under 13s. 

The year 12 student at Emmanuel College hopes to have a consistent season after an injury-riddled 2018. 

While the pair will play at opposite ends of the court, they share the same hope for their team.

"Definitely to make finals," they said at the same time.

Considering they playing opposing positions, it's probably no surprise the Quinns practice together.

"We head up to the Collegians courts quite a bit," Chelsea said.

"Mum comes up and challenges me a little bit and pushes me around." 

The pair practice at Davidson Oval but they also test out netball rings at many other other courts. 

"Usually on the Friday before the game I'll try and get Mum to take me to wherever we're playing because each ring is different," Chelsea said.

The 17-year-old said that was the case when she played Hampden league last year. 

"If it was anywhere close we'd be driving there on a Friday night to go practice," Chelsea said.

She would like to keep the ritual going this season.

Sara said she was happy with that agreement if time permitted. 

"I like the fact that she wants to practice where we're going to play," Sara said.

"It's better than not doing it at all."

While Sara will get to play with her oldest daughter this season she hopes to play netball with all four of her daughters - Chelsea, Olivia, Paige and Maddison - in the future.

"My dream is that I will one day play at least one game of netball with all four of my girls which will be a little bit away because my youngest is five," she said.
