Grassmere Cricket Association powerhouse Panmure will not feature in the 2018-19 final series after slipping out of the top four following a final-round bye.
Association president Rhys Dews believes it might be the first time the Bulldogs haven't featured in the GCA finals.
Their shock omission means Grassmere, Killarney, Hawkesdale or Yambuk will fight for the two-day premiership.
Hawkesdale, which features Vic Country teenager Fletcher Cozens, captured above by photographer Morgan Hancock, is aiming for back-to-back flags.
Pomborneit, Mortlake, Heytesbury Rebels and Bookaar will vie for South West Cricket honours.
The Warrnambool and District Cricket Association top-four is still a work in progress with one day's play remaining.
There were promising performances on the national stage for some south-west exports this week with Warrnambool's Trevor Gleeson guiding Perth Wildcats to the NBL grand final series and Port Adelaide footballer Willem Drew, who hails from Koroit, impressing in the JLT Series.
As for feel-good stories of the week, Terang's Beasley family had plenty to celebrate on the golf course.
