Luke Brennan, 39, of Laverock Road, pleaded guilty in Warrnambool Magistrates Court to handling stolen goods.
Lawyer Belinda Northey said her client had recently served 28 days in jail and had not had time to properly connect with corrections.
Brennan was ordered to 50 hours of unpaid community work in December after stealing clothes from the Salvation Army to give to his children.
In January he was jailed after he used a stolen credit card to purchase cigarettes and food.
Magistrate Franz Holzer said he would give Brennan another chance on the order and sentenced him to 14 days in jail. The corrections order will re-commence upon his release.
Between February 23 and February 24, a $100 circular saw and a red and white mountain bike worth $5000 were reported stolen from a property in Warrnambool's Banyan Street.
The bike was located in the spare bedroom of Brennan's property on February 27.
He told police he had taken the bike after a friend told him it was located outside a set of units in Warrnambool.
He said he was unaware of the value of the bike and made no attempt to return it to its owner.
