Warrnambool West Primary School student Zoey Clays loves walking to school with her mum Jodi.
The Year 2 student said she enjoyed it because of the games they play on the way.
On another street, Year 5, Xi Chen walks to school with his brother and they talk about games and things that happen at school.
He also enjoys playing basketball.
Zoey and Xi are just part of the large group of walkers and riders that helped their school win best Ride2School primary school in the state for term four, 2018.
On Friday, Warrnambool West Primary School was presented with Bicycle Network’s Ride2School Golden Wheel after having the highest participation rate in Victoria.
The school had an average active travel rate of 83.85 per cent in term four last year.
Ride2School is a nationwide program designed to support schools to encourage more students to get physically active on their journey to school.
Warrnambool City Council's Nicole Wood said it was a great achievement for the school.
"It's awesome to see so many kids out on the streets," she said.
"If you're driving your cars, if you could slow down around our schools that would be awesome."
