The 18-year-old, who scored 107 on his debut in the Cats' top side in December, smashed 136 off 193 balls in his first two-day match for the club.

Jackson, who hit 14 boundaries and one six before departing for LBW as Geelong's top scorer, became the first player in the club's history to make centuries in both his one-day and two-day debuts.

Unfortunately for the emerging batsman the Cats were unable to get over the line, going down to Ringwood by 40 runs.

The Woodford export, who was playing just his fourth top-grade match, was modest when describing how the rare achievement made him feel.

"I don't really look too much into the individual stuff but I guess it is nice to know," the second-year Geelong player said.

"I just think if I play my role that hopefully we can get closer to winning a game of cricket."

Fellow South-west exports in Nirranda pair Tim Ludeman (4) and Brody Couch (0-39 from nine overs) had no such luck in the defeat at Geelong Cricket Ground.

The loss was the Cats' first in five games, but the side sits comfortably in fourth spot, four points ahead of Dandenong.

Jackson and his Geelong teammates have one more two-day game against Frankston Peninsula before  entering the Victorian Premier Cricket finals.
