Works are scheduled from 9am to 5pm and are planned to be completed by Friday, weather permitting.
A VicRoads spokesman said the area would be under traffic management and minor delays were expected.
All drivers should obey the 40km/h speed limit throughout the work site for the safety of workers and all other road users.
"For the latest traffic information around the state visit traffic.vicroads.vic.gov.au or download the VicTraffic app via your app store," he said.
"If you see any hazards on our roads, please report them to the VicRoads Traffic Management Centre on 13 11 70."
