Sixteen players across the three divisions in the region have been selected to trial, with 12 to be selected for the side. Those selected to trial include Brian Lenehan, Shane Pudney, Les Johnson, Scott Bouschen, Barry Crimmin, Ben Cornick and Tristan McArthur.

The side for the Women’s Regional Championship has already been selected, with the WDBD to be represented by Brenda Hawker, Jean Fidge, Glenys Kenna and Anne Van Dieman.

Dennington Bowls Club has its annual mixed fours Tom Clackson Memorial day on this Sunday. The event is now in its 25th year; entries are still open with a couple of spots available.  

Mortlake men’s B Grade singles champion is Peter Beardsley, while the women’s pairs club champions are Anne Van Dieman and Glenys Kenna. The club's recent mixed triples tournament was taken out by Anne Van Dieman, Richard Van Dieman and Glenys Kenna over Colin Goldsworthy, Maddie Goldsworthy and Peter Beardsley.

At this week's delegates meeting, the division board put out a discussion paper with some proposed options for next year's pennant season. Clubs are asked to speak to their members and report back by March 30. Items being considered include: eight teams in each division with 14 home and away rounds, playing 21 ends per match, 16 players per side in Division 1 & 2, or 12 players per side in all divisions, promotion and relegation in all divisions with no limit on the number of teams from any one club and the official start time to revert back to 1.15pm.  

Warrnambool Bowls Club is hosting a primary school competition on Monday.  All 16 rinks will be utilised, with more than 100 kids set to take part.

The final matches of the Saturday Pennant home and away season will be played this week, with the top four set in Division 1. Top-placed Koroit Blue are playing at home against third-placed Warrnambool Gold; City Red and Gold play each other; Terang hosts Timboon; Mortlake will be hoping for a win against Port Fairy to get off the bottom of the ladder; and Dennington will look to finish on a high against Warrnambool Blue. They have included Liam Greene to play along side his grandfather, Colin. The final four is also set in Division 2 (City Blue, Lawn Tennis Red, City White and Koroit White).

There is some interest in Division 3 and 4, with fourth spot up for grabs. In Division 3, Warrnambool Green (fourth) is playing top side Lawn Tennis Gold and need a win to keep City Brown overrunning them.

In Division 4, Mortlake Gold is three points clear of Dennington Grey (fifth) and in the box seat to hold onto a spot in the four.
