The Australian Wingless Sprint Titles are set to be held at Allansford's Premier Speedway on Friday and Saturday night and Weel is carrying encouraging form in his family-owned vehicle into the the event at his home track.
The 27-year-old, who works with wife Kriste on his wingless sprintcar, is feeling more relaxed after securing a victory at the Front Row Challenge at Simpson Speedway last Saturday.
"I take a lot of confidence out of last weekend getting the first victory of the season in my own car," he said.
"Our season to date hasn't been that flash but we have been there abouts. At the start of the season we started pretty roughly blowing up a couple of motors.
"We have had a couple of seconds, thirds and fourths and been there abouts. To get the first win on the weekend was really pleasing."
Weel, who also plays football for Warrnambool and District league club Nirranda, said consistency was the key to securing a maiden national title.
"You have to finish both your heats well and give yourself a shot," he said.
"The final is 40 laps and anything can happen. I just have to try and treat it like another race. We have gone right over the car and put ourselves in the best position before we even get there."
Racing begins at 5.30pm on Friday before returning at 5pm on Saturday.
