The two-day event, which honours the former ladies captain, president, secretary and life member of the Warrnambool Golf Club, saw 136 players compete in a four-ball-better-ball stableford on Monday.
Rosanna Golf Club’s Rosyln Van Der Schalk and Cheryle Whittaker won division one with 42 stableford points on a count-back over Warrnambool’s Sue Wilton and Debbie Rix.
But division two was dominated by local pairs with Annette Lumsden and Lori Adams edging out Helen Dixon and Robyn Hickey on a count-back, after both duos scored 41 stableford points.
Warrnambool Golf Club ladies captain Lauren Higgins said despite the unpredictable weather, the first day of the Bowl was a success.
“Visiting players usually find Warrnambool’s playing conditions quite difficult,” she said.
“And that might have been reflective with three out of four of the top pairs being locals.”
Day two features 120 players in teams of four for the Marj Robinson Bowl, with a shotgun start at 9am.
The team with the highest aggregate of stableford scores wins the Bowl.
