Melbourne police investigators have arrested a Warrnambool man following a sexual assault and robbery in Melbourne East.

It is alleged the man sexually assaulted a 25-year-old woman on Cohen Place about 5.30am on February 9.
He then allegedly stole her handbag containing a wallet, bank cards and phone before fleeing.
The victim sustained minor injuries during the incident.
Investigators executed warrants at an address in Warrnambool, where a 25-year-old man was arrested.
The man has since been charged with robbery, sexual assault and multiple counts of obtaining property by deception.
He has been remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court on May 30.
