The Beavers have had the last three Saturday's off.
The first of those was a Warrnambool and District Cricket Association (WDCA) week off for Australia Day, with the Beavers then having a bye for the next round of two-day games.
"It's going to be interesting to see how having those three weeks off affects us," McCosh said.
"Our two-day form before the break has been pretty good without winning one.
"We had a solid performance against Russells Creek in the last game we played."
McCosh said he gave his players the first week of the break off before returning to training the last fortnight. "We have had our division two and three teams playing so it has been business as usual training with them and supporting them on match day," McCosh said.
The Beavers are seventh on the ladder, just seven points in arrears of the top four.
Today they come up against 10th-placed Port Fairy.
It will be the Pirates last game of the season, given they have a bye in the final round.
McCosh is wary of what the Pirates can bring to the table.
"They started the season really well and they have a couple of country week players in Aaron Williams and Jason Perera," he said.
"They are a very handy team and we know if we are 10 per cent off then we will pay a price.
"With finals, we are really just trying to play our best cricket and control what we can control. Everything else will unfold around that."
