Foxy’s Star with Declan Bates in the saddle defeated Wish I Might by more than two lengths in the 1000-metre scamper, while Dean Yendall rode Strategic Force to his easy win over Ruby Lil over the 1000 metres.
Wilde said he expected both horses to run well on their trackwork.
“I was quietly confident they would run well on how they had been working,” he said.
“They had both trialled up well at Terang and Camperdown. I rated Foxy’s Star the best of my two hopes but I was pleasantly surprised with the easy win of Strategic Force.
"I would say we may head to Melbourne for mid-week restricted races going on their maiden wins. I would not be afraid to take them to town for their second runs. Both horses have plenty of upside.
"The owners of Foxy’s Star and Strategic Force have been great as they have allowed us to be very patient with both horses. I’m sure the patience will have long term rewards for both of them.”
Tommy’s Gift broke his maiden status at his seventh start for Crossley trainer Quinton Scott when he was successful in a 1400-metre race.
