Gary Rohan’s move to Geelong has brought him a lot closer to home and today he made a special visit to his primary school in Cobden.
As Rohan strolled through Cobden Primary School he was joined by Geelong teammate and 2018 best and fairest runner-up, Tim Kelly.
“It brings back a few memories,” Rohan said.
“It’s changed a bit since I was here.
“I’m very excited to be back home.”
Rohan said he remembered a superstar coming to Cobden Primary when he doing work experience as a physical education teacher.
“Gary Ablett Junior actually came here,” he said.
“How things have changed from following him around here to playing alongside him this year.”
The former Cobden Bombers player also visited Cobden Technical School today.
Rohan is getting ready for his first year at the Cats after playing 106 games for the Sydney Swans.
“I’m loving the club, the boys are very welcoming,” he said.
“I’m settling in well, I’m living at Ocean Grove.”
The school’s AFL ambassador Jarryd Lewis said students were excited to see the Cats players.
“Probably the majority of the kids at the school barrack for Geelong,” he said.
Rohan said he and teammate Luke Dahlhaus hoped to visit the Geelong Falcons this year which is where they were recruited from.
